Generally, yes—but it should not be described as maintenance-free.
Because there is no loose sand or rubber infill, users do not need to:
- Replenish infill
- Redistribute infill
- Remove displaced rubber granules
- Monitor infill depth as a routine task
This can simplify maintenance compared with conventional infill systems.
However, non-infill turf still requires:
Cleaning + brushing + drainage management + seam inspection + periodic professional maintenance
The actual maintenance cost depends heavily on traffic, climate, installation quality and product construction.
How Long Can Non-Infill Artificial Grass Last?
There is no single service-life figure that applies to every non-infill turf product.
A residential landscape installation may experience a very different wear pattern from a professional football training field.
Useful-life expectations should therefore be based on:
- Yarn material
- Yarn thickness
- Dtex
- Tuft density
- Backing construction
- UV stabilization
- Adhesive system
- Traffic intensity
- Maintenance frequency
- Climate
- Installation quality
Instead of asking simply “How many years will it last?”, buyers should ask manufacturers for relevant abrasion, UV, tuft-bind, dimensional-stability and durability test results.
This provides a much more meaningful basis for comparison.
