| Parameter | Typical Consideration | Relationship to Maintenance |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical water permeability | Product-specific; many products are designed for substantial water flow | Influences how effectively rinsing water can pass through the turf system |
| Fiber material | Common materials include PE and PP | Material formulation can affect chemical and weathering resistance |
| Backing/adhesive compatibility | Should be verified through manufacturer data | Important when selecting cleaning and disinfecting products |
Water permeability is particularly important, but higher permeability alone does not guarantee better cleaning performance. The complete system—including turf backing, drainage holes, seams, base construction and site drainage—determines how quickly contaminated water leaves the surface.
What About Cleaning and Chemical Resistance Tests?
When purchasing non-infill artificial turf, buyers should look beyond appearance and basic fiber specifications.
For sports applications in China, standards such as GB/T 20394 include testing requirements for relevant artificial-turf properties. Depending on the product and application, manufacturers may also provide additional testing relating to aging, weather resistance, material properties and other performance characteristics.
However, a general turf standard should not automatically be interpreted as a universal chemical-resistance certification.
For projects where frequent cleaning or disinfection is expected, ask the manufacturer for product-specific compatibility information and test documentation.
