| Parameter | What it tells you | Importance |
|---|---|---|
| Yarn Dtex / yarn construction | Describes the mass and construction of the yarn | Relevant to mechanical wear, but not sufficient by itself |
| UV/weathering test | Indicates performance after controlled weathering exposure | Important for outdoor applications |
| Polymer and raw-material specification | Helps assess fiber formulation and durability | Important |
| Tuft retention / backing strength | Indicates how securely fibers are anchored | Important |
| Abrasion/wear testing | Helps assess resistance to repeated mechanical action | Particularly important for sports |
| Warranty period | Defines the manufacturer’s contractual commitment | Important, but not equivalent to actual service life |
Don’t judge lifespan by Dtex alone
A higher Dtex value can indicate a larger or heavier yarn construction, but it does not automatically mean the turf will last longer.
Actual durability depends on the combination of:
polymer + yarn profile + Dtex + density + backing + UV stabilization + installation + usage
This is why two products with similar Dtex values can perform very differently over time.
